So, my parents wanted to give me a graduation gift, I thought why not get something I can use that I don't already have. I decided on a camcorder, it has 3-CCD's and a manual focus ring which I highly desire, hopefully they will get it, it is steep at just over $1,000. It is a very nice transition from handycam. it is the 8th grader of cameras as I have heard it put. (You are the top of your class but when you reach into high school you are vastly humbled)
here is the C-Net review, I am (hopefully) getting it off of ebay, so don't be confused about the "discontinued" warning under where to buy.

If that falls through, I will probably settle for its successor the GS-500, a much more consumer based model

Just in case you are paying attention to the other posts I have made...I don't know why my parents won't invest this money into the brakes...I asked if that could be the gift, but it was heavily shot down...bummer.
