I picked up my trailer yesterday. I have been wondering for weeks how it was going to pull behind the Taco so as soon as I got home I loaded it up and took it for a drive. I'm going to have to play with tie down techniques and where to balance it at some still. I picked up some 5000lb straps but I think I'm gonna want to have some chain on it too. Pulling it is going to be interesting. The Taco is definitely capable of it but it's gonna be a long trip to Idaho and WA. I'm also putting brakes on the other axle before I tow it loaded again. Here's a couple pics!

Gotta love this new house. That is a 10X20ft enclosure with my 12 ft motorcycle trailer next to and my 16 foot car hauler in front of it. I still have enough room to park a rig back there and still close the 8 foot wooden gate.

kick ass! just remember when you load your rig onto the trailer, pull it forward untill the ass end of your truck starts to lower down.

Ya I played with it some. At first I pulled all the way up and the thing was about on the bumpstops so backed up some. In those pics I had it too far back. I turned around in gravel pull out on my test drive and I about spun out on flat ground in 2wd when I turned sharp. Gonna have to move it forward some next time. Thanks for the info. I am trail and error pretty much at this point.

If it were me I would use tire straps on all 4 corners and then use some bridle straps on the frame front and rear to compress the suspension. The last thing you want is for that truck to have any roll on it especially when being pulled by something as light as your Taco

I would load the vehicle attach the rear bridle to the frame, then attach the front bridle to the frame and compress the suspension some so you don't have much body roll. Then I would hook up the 4 tire straps so I can't move an inch. Maybe overkill, but just a little bit of movement on a trailer will effect the handling of you Taco greatly.

I pull a trailer daily and I'm very aware of how a trailer reacts with a truck. If you have problems with the rear end wanting to sway, be sure to invest in a load distributing hitch.

I would have to completely redo the tie down points to use those tire straps. I have 5000lb ratchet straps wrapped around the axles on all 4 corners. I think I'll get a couple more straps and just run them through my tube bumpers and cinch it down.
