View Full Version : Signs of bad ball joints?

I'll get some pics up tomorrow, I've got class tonight. My passenger side wheel has a really odd motion path right now. When I steer hard right or am going stright, it sits normal, perpendicular to the ground.... but when I steer hard left, it goes toe in HARD!!!!
Sits like this:
\--o--| on hard left and |--o--| on straight and hard right.
Looks like the wheel is gonna fall off, or fold under the truck. I'd assume that the "top" of the 'wheel attachment system' is where the problem lies.... so that leads me to assume ball joints? Thoughts?

Yeah, get on it quick. I had a front end noise for a while that turned out to be the alignment cam bolt on the lower pass a-arm..... I didn't find out until it dropped at 50mph on the freeway. Pushed me into the wall on the shoulder, but the wall did it's job. Not a scratch on the truck, and other than a bent bump-stop and the fact that the pass side tire sits about an 1" or 2 behind the driver side, I haven't noticed anything *major* :-P
Still wheels and drives fine. That was a year or two ago.
